A senior officer who jumped to the assistance of a colleague that was assaulted by a knife attacker received the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.

"Officer attacked," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage shared by the agency depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade extended.

He ran into the policeman who stumbled and fell to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a safe opportunity, ending the fight to an end.

Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "I need something on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his neck and additional cuts to his arms and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.

Officials stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his partner's bleeding before emergency responders reached the scene.

The new award arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen won organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional union branch in early 2024.

They further earned a Regional Valor Recognition in July 2024.

"The responses of each policeman in the end protected themselves and resulted in no civilians experienced any harm."

Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
